Data on a new survey shows that the Gulf oil spill has changed the vacation patterns of nearly one-fourth of people in Alabama who usually go to the beach and did not.
The information was found by a random telephone survey of 596 Alabamians. The survey found that 44 percent of the people who answered the phone said that they usually take summer vacations and 62 percent of those people said that they are usually to the Alabama or Florida coast.
Although beach tourism was encouraged after the spill, 28 percent of people said that they changed their plans because of the oil spill.
