This Tuesday a United States judge ruled that BP will cover the costs of eventual claims that will be presented towards Halliburton in regards to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

BP still has plans to introduce evidence against Halliburton showing fraud, and the judge in the case stated that if the evidence held up then it could overrule the indemnity ruling. BP will be subjected to punitive damages claims that could cost billions of dollars in payouts.

It has been estimated that BP stands to pay close to $25 million in damages to individual civil and criminal lawsuits against them.

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill had devastating results on tourism and residential property. If your oil spill claim was denied, you need experienced representation on your side in order to gain the compensation that you deserve.

The City of Gulfport, Mississippi has had it’s oil spill claim denied by BP. The claim is for $11.8 million and accounts for lost sales taxes and community damages during the 2010 tourist season due to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

BP is claiming that the city has not kept proper documentation of the damages and losses during the tourist season and therefore has denied the claim. Gulfport officials are hopeful that they can settle this situation without heading to court but they do not believe that their claim should have been turned down.

The city is standing firm and has already rejected one offer from BP in the amount of $76,000 to cover tax losses.

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill created a huge decline in tourism along the beaches of Florida.

A new campaign has been released showing crystal clear water and people enjoying the sand and sun, just like before the oil spill. These advertisements were developed to show that it is fine to visit the beaches that were involved in the oil spill. Since the clean up efforts, tourism along the panhandle beaches in Florida has increased by 61 percent.

Although it may be safer to visit, everything in the area has not returned back to normal. The affected areas have received numerous reports pertaining to irregularities in sea life. Researchers have said that it is too early to tell what those irregularities are or how much damage has been done to the sea life.

A report conducted by the American Petroleum Institute shows that the construction of a moratorium related to drilling in the Gulf of Mexico after the disastrous oil spill will cost America roughly $24 billion.

Due to the establishment of the moratorium in the area, and the prolonged process for allowing drilling, capital has decreased by $18.3 billion in the last two years. If the drilling moratorium was not in existence, there would have been a significant increase in the amount of crude oil investments.

The moratorium has caused 11 separate drilling rigs to pull out of the Gulf of Mexico and occupy other countries. This evacuation has fueled around $21 billion in investments into the new countries. Approximately 130 drilling projects have been delayed because of the moratorium, greatly affecting the economy in the area.

BP made allegations against Halliburton claiming that the company destroyed crucial evidence related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill case. Halliburton has made a public statement against these claims, denying any and all responsibility for the destruction of this evidence.

The lawsuit between the two oil companies is centered around the Macondo well explosion in the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Halliburton has stated that it’s employees followed all of the company rules and regulations when disposing of testing results.

The evidence was connected with the type of cement that Halliburton used to seal the Macondo well. BP believes that Halliburton employees did not perform a proper job and Halliburton thinks that BP gave false information regarding the project.

The British oil company, BP PLC, may soon be facing felony charges relating to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. U.S. prosecutors are developing criminal charges that would be targeted against BP engineers.

The basis for the claims centers around the fact that the engineers supposedly had information regarding the safety of the initial drilling in the Gulf of Mexico that could have possibly prevented the spill from occurring.

These charges may be presented in the beginning of the 2012 year and if any of them lead to convictions, a five year jail sentence could accompany each charge. BP PLC is expected to face several charges as well, with one involving a violation of the Clean Water Act.

A study was conducted to determine the amount of air pollution that was produced from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The study determined that the levels of ozone emitted from the spill were equivalent to that of a large U.S. city. The research was obtained in June 2010 when an aircraft flew over the spill and collected samples of the air pollution.

Eight percent of the oil that spilled broke down into particles and became airborne. These particles can easily be trapped inside human lungs through inhalation.

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill affected numerous lives. If you or a loved one filed a claim pertaining to the oil spill and it was denied, you need experienced representation on your side.

A District Judge has dismissed several oil spill claims by people residing in Mexican states as well as Alabama cities because he believes they weren’t directly affected by the 2010 oil spill.

The judge told the Alabama cities to sue BP first for monetary compensation. The Mexican states were unable to produce documentation that their recovery process was authorized.

Additional claims made by Louisiana parishes have been thrown out as well. These claims were seeking damages for wildlife that were injured in the oil spill. Claims have become narrowed by District Judges involving the scope of the oil spill in order to eliminate several claims from the pretrial phase.

On Monday in a federal court filing, BP PLC has made claims stating that Halliburton ruined evidence dealing with cement slurry. This filing is setting the precedent for the court case that will determine which bills each company will pay relating to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Halliburton has denied that they have in any way tampered with evidence of the oil-spill. Investigations into the matter have determined that Halliburton is responsible for certain faults dealing with their own cement job at the oil rig.

The trial is scheduled to start on February 27, 2012 in New Orleans. This case will find out the liability of each company and then additional phases will figure out costs, punitive damages and several other claims.
