Last week, thousands of pounds of weathered oil was found under the surface at Pensacola Bay even though BP officials were denying the claims.

Officials from BP denied the appearance of weathered oil while working on the oil spill response in nearly a dozen interviews. While officials denied the claims, fishermen in Escambia County reported finding the oil and said that they have been finding it for weeks.

A fishermen working for BP in the cleaning process said that they have been scooping it up in boats and dumping it in bags. On Friday, a Coast Guard Lt. finally confirmed seeing oil 50 to 60 feet off of Barrancas Beach. Fishermen also proved to reporters that it is not hard to find oil in Pensacola Bay or Pass, or anywhere near the Gulf shore.
