Oil spills effects Mississippi economy

Posted on June 24th, 2010 No Comments

According to new reports, the Gulf oil spill is already effecting the economy in Mississippi.

Tourists are not interested in visiting the area and are not going to hotels or restaurants, which is hurting their businesses severely. Another industry that is being highly effected, the sport fishing industry has seen a drop with bookings down from anywhere between 70 and 90 percent.

Tourists fear of visiting the area is almost more devastating than the actual oil damage. People in Alabama and Louisiana have reported similar situations. In some cases, hotel stays are down 50 percent in bookings.
