A scientist at Florida State University has said that more than half of the oil from BP’s oil spill remains in the Gulf of Mexico. The man will be telling a spill commission about his studies later on today.
The oceanographer will be telling the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill and offshore drilling that 50 percent of the oil remains because it is a highly durable material that may not disappear anymore.
This scientist’s claims are much different than what the government said in their report, that 75 percent of the oil has been cleaned up orĀ broken down. BP capped the broken well in July and completed the process of permanently fixing the well last week.
